Barb began her first business at the age of 6.5 and then sold it for a profit when she was in the fourth grade...

Throughout her childhood and school years, Barb always had her own business and was the
TOP Salesperson for nearly every school, YMCA, Youth Program and Fundraising endeavor she was involved in. Looking back in time, Barb credits The Kid Factor for a lot of her early successes.

What is The Kid Factor?

The Kid Factor refers to the advantage children have in business when adults prefer to buy or conduct business with them. It's based on the idea that kids, despite their age, can sell or promote products, conduct business just as well as adults. Adults find it enjoyable and authentic to interact with kids when making purchases while empowering them on a variety of personal and business levels. Often, you might here these same adults wishing they had had the knowledge and support as these kids are experiencing today.

For example, one of my young entrepreneurs was able to purchase his first real estate property at a land auction when he was just 12 years old. (Yes, his legal guardian had to make the legal bid & sign the paperwork), but the rest of the process was done by the 12 year old business owner dressed in a suit and tie handing out his professional business cards for his personal business that he had been successfully operating and growing since he was 8 years old. Utilizing The Kid Factor, no other investors would bid against this Young Entrepreneur, thus gaining him his first real estate property with just the minimum bid.

In 1992 Barb created her award-winning Living Math Curriculum that she then implemented within her classrooms and sold to other school districts across North America. Barb then created a version that she took on the road to teach homeschoolers, child-care workers, teachers, parents, children, and adults.

Barb’s middle school, special education, students learned to pay rents and mortgages, generate bi-weekly paychecks, and so much more before they left her and either moved on to high school or dropped out of school. The one thing Barb was certain of was that every student who went through her classes learned what, why, when, and how every average adult uses Math in their daily lives. Her students, parents and even peers never asked the age-ole question every Math teacher hears, “Why do I need to know this stuff?” Even some of her students’ parents sat in on her classes wishing they had learned this material when they were still in school.
